Call for papers: 2016 EPRG Annual Meeting

Call for Paper Proposals for the Fourth Annual Meeting of the Economics and Politics Research Group (EPRG)

Dear members and friends of the Economics and Politics Research Group (EPRG), it is with great pleasure that we would like to invite you to submit paper proposals for our Fourth Annual Meeting to be held on June 10 (all day Friday), 2016 at the University of Brasilia.

This year’s annual meeting is part of the First International Workshop in Economics & Politics – FIWEP, which will be held at the University of Brasilia from June 6 to June 10, 2016. The FIWEP includes a mini-course on “Executive Politics in the United States” by prof. David Lewis, Vanderbilt University and a mini-course on “Theory of Games and Signals” by prof. Jorge Streb, UCEMA. Please check information about the FIWEP and the Fourth Annual Meeting here:

We are looking for papers that cut across the fields of political science, economics, law and sociology. Papers from other disciplines of the social sciences relating politics and economics are very welcome.

Paper proposals should include a title and a summary of about 250 words. Proposals should be sent to the following emails: bugarin.mauricio@gmail.com and turgeon007@gmail.com no later than May 9, 2016. Decisions about paper acceptance will be sent no later than May 13, 2016.

Este Quarto Encontro do EPRG será parte integrante do First International Workshop in Economics & Politics – FIWEP, que será realizado de 6 a 10 de junho de 2016 na UnB. O FIWEP inclui, entre outras atividades, os minicursos “Executive Politics in the United States”, lecionado pelo prof. About Mauricio Bugarin

Mauricio Soares Bugarin is full professor at the Economics Department of the University of Brasilia, Brasilia, Brazil. He received his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1997 and is currently Leader of the Economics and Politics Research Group (CNPq-UnB). From 2006 to 2011 he was full professor of Economics at Insper Institute, São Paulo, Brazil, where he served as the director of undergraduate studies in Economics and created the joint degree program in Economics and Business Administration. Prof. Bugarin is a research fellow of the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPq) and served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Latin American Chapter of the Econometric Society from 2007 to 2011. He has produced numerous research articles published in peer reviewed journals, including the Journal of Mathematical Economics, Oxford Academic Papers, Public Choice, and Social Choice and Welfare; a book on the control of public expenditure in Brazil published by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation; several academic book chapters; and has received several academic prizes including Brazilian National Treasure Secretariat Prizes (Public Finance), a National Health Economics Prize, and the Haralambos Simeonides Prize for the best article in Economics published in a year by a Brazilian author. Prof. Bugarin’s main interests include public economics, public finance and the relationship between economics and politics. He regularly teaches PhD courses in game theory and mechanism design, the economics of incentives and information and positive political economics.
