From the Executive Board of the ABCP:

For the last 18 years, ABCP has promoted its meetings every two years, seeking to consolidate the field of Political Science in the scenario of national scientific knowledge. In its ninth edition (2014), the ABCP Meeting will endeavor to bring together academic visions and the democratic debate present in Brazilian society, in order to indicate reflections about the current political dynamics in Brazil, without losing sight of the compared perspective with other countries of the world, trade blocs and power centers such as MERCOSUR, UNASUL, IBAS Forum and BRICS group. Brazil’s international insertion and the North-South and South-South relations will also be part of the agenda of the IX Meeting.

 Therefore, we take this opportunity to invite colleagues (professors, masters and doctoral students) from abroad to participate in the IX Meeting of the Brazilian Political Science Association, from August 4^th to August 7^th, 2014 in Brasília. The main purpose of this Conference is to promote a space for academic debates of excellence, as well as the exchange between Political Science Associations from all over the world. The theme of the IX Meeting will be: 1964-2014: Authoritarianism, Democracy and Human Rights. The round tables will bring together renowned professors in the areas of Political Science, International Relations and other disciplines of the Social Sciences. The Thematic Areas are indicated in the program of the IX Meeting and in the summary description on ABCP’s homepage.

We’d like to inform you that the Call for Papers of LACEA-LAMES 2014 has been extended until June 15.

Call for Paper Proposals for the 2nd Annual Meeting of the Economics and Politics Research Group (EPRG)

In Honor of Marilda Sotomayor on her 70^th Birthday

Dear members and friends of the Economics and Politics Research Group (EPRG), it is with great pleasure that we would like to invite you to submit paper proposals for our Second Annual Meeting to be held on June 07, 2014 at the University of Brasilia. This second Annual Meeting honors professor Marilda Sotomayor on the occasion of her 70^th Birthday.

We are looking for papers that cut across the fields of political science, economics, law and sociology. Papers from other disciplines of the social sciences relating politics and economics are very welcome.

Paper proposals should include a title and a summary of about 250 words. Proposals should be sent to the following email eprg@gmail.com with a copy to bugarin.mauricio@gmail.com and to turgeon007@gmail.com no later than May 21. Decisions about paper acceptance will be sent on May 28.

Please kindly announce the event to your colleagues. Thanks again for you interest in the EPRG. We are looking forward to receiving your paper proposals.

Em Homenagem à Professora Marilda Sotomayor por ocasião de seu 70^o. Aniversário

Estimados membros e amigos do EPRG, temos o prazer de convidá-los a submeter suas pesquisas para apresentação no Segundo Encontro Anual do Economics and Politics Research Group, a ser realizado na Universidade de Brasília no sábado, dia 7 de junho de 2014. Este encontro homenageará a professora Marilda Sotomayor, por ocasião de seu 70^o. aniversário.

Assim como no primeiro encontro, estamos interessados em pesquisas que se situam na interseção da política com a economia, a sociologia ou o direito. Pesquisas em outras áreas das ciências sociais que se relacionem com as áreas de política e economia são bem-vindas.
